Welcome to Yarmouth VIS

The Yarmouth Village Improvement Society was organized in 1911 "to protect and improve the natural advantages and the pleasing appearance of Yarmouth, to excite and foster an interest and love of our town and to promote the prosperity... the happiness and well-being of the residents and to enter into and engage in any work that will aim to accomplish this end." The VIS currently has over 100 members.

The Old Meeting House Available for Weddings and Events

The Old Meeting House on Hillside Avenue is available for weddings and other events from May 1 to October 1 at a cost of $350. Please contact Debra Hopkins at 207-400-0708 for additional information.

Upcoming VIS Monthly Meetings

NOTE: VIS will cancel any scheduled meeting when the Yarmouth Schools are closed due to inclement weather.

Public Programs are held the first Tuesday of the month in October, November, and February through May in the Town Hall Meeting Room.

Katie Worthing, Yarmouth Historical Society, Executive Director will discuss Travel Tourism in Yarmouth. Find out the places to stay and things to see for tourists and locals. We meet at Town Hall Meeting room at 11 am to 12 noon with social at 10:30.

VIS Marker Program

VIS offers research service and house markers for qualifying historic homes in Yarmouth for a maximum cost of $250. A home should have been built prior to WWI and retain most of its exterior architectural features. View the cover letter below for more information and instructions on how to apply.
